New OSHA Inspection Protocols Take Effect in January

New OSHA Inspection Protocols that take effect January, 2020 will require federal, regional and local OSHA offices to inspect those businesses that are high risk, or suspected of being high risk. What does that mean for companies that manufacture goods like electronics or chemicals, or have machinery that could cause injuries? The answer is simple: YOU. WILL. BE. A. TARGET.

HOW CAN YOU GET AHEAD OF THAT ISSUE? BE PREPARED.

  1. Ensure your workplace is safe.

  2. Make sure everyone is properly trained and it is documented. (Lack of documentation is a violation, even if you did the training.)

  3. Perform routine inspections, especially of high-risk areas and processes.

  4. Ensure all machinery is in good working order.

  5. Make sure you are HazCom compliant.

  6. Have a third-party inspection to find conditions you may have become accustomed to because “we’ve always done it that way.”
